As thousands of people came from all over the country, along with thousands of world leaders and international dignitaries from around the world, to witness the swearing-in of President Mahama, one thing that caught everyone’s attention was his stunning inauguration regalia. Many people on social media commented on the exceptional artistry that went into crafting the clothing, with many wondering who designed such a beautiful outfit. The mastermind behind it is Matthew Agambire of the renowned Bondaana fashion house. Matthew is a celebrated costumier, known for dressing political figures, world leaders, and other prominent international personalities. His impressive client list includes President Irfaan Ali of Guyana, Sammy Gyamfi, Sammy Awuku, Gabby Otchere Darko, Hon. Mustapha Ussif (former Minister of Youth and Sports), Stephen Appiah, Osman Ayariga, Rev. Stephen Wengam, and Israel Laryea. Matthew, an MBA degree holder in marketing from the University of Ghana Business School, pursued his dreams of becoming a high-end fashion designer from humble beginnings and rose to the top. Born in the small village of Sirigu in the Upper East Region, Matthew attended Notre Dame Seminary High School before proceeding to the University of Ghana, where his passion for fashion design was birthed.

The regalia, a white agbada, was carefully crafted with a lot of symbolism. The white agbada, representative of the northern people of Ghana, was adorned with Kente patterns and adinkra, representative of the southern people of Ghana, symbolizing the unity of all people of Ghana. The adinkra symbols also have deep meanings: the white agbada symbolizes victory; the Kente fabric represents Ghanaian culture, wealth, and heritage; Nyame Dua represents God’s presence and protection; Sankofa means “to go back and get it,” symbolizing the importance of learning from the past; Gye Nyame highlights God’s omnipotence, except for God; and Dwennimmen represents strength and humility

Matthew’s inspiring story serves as a beacon of hope for young people from rural communities, demonstrating that with hard work and determination, anything is possible.
